From the outside, a red clapboard house in Queens remained unchanged over time. The owner, referred to as a radio DJ, was rarely seen by neighbors. Inside, the house held a vast collection of recorded jazz interviews, making it a significant archive for American jazz. With the help of a Princeton University professor, the archive was relocated to Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The Phil Schaap Jazz Collection now resides there, comprising a substantial amount of material transported in trucks. This collection is regarded as a treasure trove for jazz enthusiasts.
