A civil jury in the Southern District of Florida has found banana company Chiquita Brands International liable for funding the Colombian paramilitary group Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC). Chiquita has been ordered to pay $38.3 million in damages to the families of eight AUC victims. The AUC, a far-right paramilitary group, was designated as a terrorist organization by the US and disbanded in 2006. This is an ongoing story and will be updated.
