A major ad industry group is shutting down after being sued by Elon Musk-owned X over alleged illegal conspiracy to boycott advertising on its platform. The group, Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), confirmed that it will defend itself in court. GARM was established in 2019 to help brands avoid their ads appearing alongside illegal or harmful content. Despite a judge not yet ruling on the lawsuit, X CEO Linda Yaccarino sees it as an important acknowledgment and a step in the right direction. However, some believe the lawsuit could drive away more advertisers from X.
