Tsunami Warning in Effect After Strong Earthquake in Japan

A tsunami warning was in effect for southern Japan after an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 was reported Thursday afternoon. The earthquake occurred less than 20 miles off the coast of Miyazaki. A tsunami warning was issued for the coastal regions of the southern Japanese islands of Kyushu and Shikoku, specifically Miyazaki and Kochi prefectures.
