A group of record labels has filed copyright infringement cases against two AI startups. The companies, Suno and Uncharted Labs (developer of Udio), are accused of using unlicensed sound recordings from major labels to train their AI models. Udio gained attention with the viral AI-generated song ‘BBL Drizzy.’ Suno, which recently raised $125 million in funding, allows users to create songs with prompts using OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The lawsuits aim to protect copyright and ensure responsible development of generative AI systems. Artists have previously called on AI developers to respect their rights.
