Apple Will Revamp Siri to Catch Up to Its Chatbot Competitors

Apple’s top software executives decided in early last year to update Siri, the company’s virtual assistant. This decision was prompted by their testing of OpenAI’s chatbot, ChatGPT, which made Siri appear outdated. Siri had been limited in its capabilities and often misunderstood questions, while ChatGPT excelled in generating responses and understanding context. As a result, Apple initiated a significant reorganization to catch up in the AI race. At the upcoming developers conference, Apple plans to unveil an improved Siri with enhanced conversational abilities and a new generative AI system. The company is also exploring partnerships for licensing complementary AI models.
